If you were planning a trip to Bali and paid your deposit through BookYogaRetreats or BookYogaTeacherTraining, the Tripaneer bankruptcy has put that plan in doubt. We know how much thought goes into a decision like this, from choosing the dates to telling your family, so we want to be straightforward about it. Your deposit may be difficult to recover, but YogaFX may be able to credit a verified deposit in full towards an eligible YogaFX course in Bali.
We are a Bali-based school, and a good number of the people who contact us have already imagined themselves on the island. This article explains the situation in plain terms, then shows what we may be able to do and how you can reach us.
What has happened, briefly
Tripaneer B.V., a Dutch company in Amsterdam, is in bankruptcy proceedings. The public record on ClaimsAgent shows court file F.13/26/306, an appointed trustee, and a first creditors’ meeting on 9 December 2026 at 10:30. The register gives 30 September 2026 as the judgment date, while BookRetreats gives 1 October 2026 in its own guide. We mention both because you will probably see both.
Tripaneer’s about page names BookYogaRetreats and BookYogaTeacherTraining as its brands. If your confirmation email came from one of those two, the deposit was paid to Tripaneer. BookRetreats is a different company, which says it has no link to Tripaneer. Its guide for retreat hosts explains the position from its side.
Does this affect your Bali booking
| If your receipt says | Then | Best first move |
|---|---|---|
| BookYogaRetreats | Deposit paid to a company now in bankruptcy | Gather documents, ask your bank, then write to YogaFX |
| BookYogaTeacherTraining | Same as above | Same as above |
| BookRetreats | Outside this bankruptcy according to BookRetreats | Contact BookRetreats and your host |
| Paid the Bali host directly | Not part of this case | Speak to your host |
Tripaneer’s process, as summarised by BookRetreats, was to pay the host around one to two days after the guest arrived. So if your trip has not yet taken place, the host probably never received your deposit. That is why a Bali host may say honestly that they have not been paid.
What YogaFX may be able to offer
YogaFX may be able to provide full credit for the verified deposit you paid, applied to the next available eligible YogaFX Yoga Teacher Training course in Bali. The credit would be a reduction in the course price. It would not be a cash refund, and it would not mean Tripaneer has transferred your money to us.
We start by reviewing your booking confirmation and proof of payment. If we can apply a credit, we confirm in writing the amount, the course, the dates, the balance still due and any conditions, and only then do you decide. Approval is individual, so we cannot promise it in advance.
An example with numbers
Suppose your verified deposit was USD 350 and the eligible course costs USD 2,100. A full credit would leave USD 1,750 to pay. This is only an illustration and not a current quotation.
What training in Bali looks like with YogaFX
The core programme is a hybrid format. You prepare online from home, then join a 6-day intensive in Seminyak with a maximum of 19 students. Graduates receive Yoga Alliance RYT 200 and Bikram Hot 26&2 certification. The next MasterClass runs from 24 to 29 January 2027. YogaFX is a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School, and you can check this on its public profile.
Our teacher training page describes the structure in more detail, the FAQs cover practical questions, and you can meet the lead teacher and see a few teaching experiences from past students. If you prefer to see what other people say, the 5 star reviews page collects feedback. If you want more detail on the training programme, you can also read the full guide for Tripaneer deposit payers on the teacher training site.
One distinction matters. Finishing training and registering with Yoga Alliance are separate steps, so we would confirm the current completion requirements and registration pathway for your chosen course in writing.
How the bankruptcy process works in plain words
In a Dutch bankruptcy, a court appoints a trustee, called a curator, who takes control of the company’s affairs. The trustee collects what the company owns, reviews what it owes, and eventually distributes what is available among creditors according to legal priority. Customers who paid deposits for services not yet delivered are usually unsecured creditors, which generally places them behind other claims.
That is why the outcome for deposit payers is hard to predict, and why we keep repeating that nobody can promise a repayment. It does not mean a claim is pointless. It means you should treat any recovery as a possible bonus rather than a plan, and look at options you control, such as your bank, your insurer and a course credit.
Process timelines in bankruptcies often run for months or longer. The creditors’ meeting on 9 December 2026 is a first milestone, not a final answer. If your training date is sooner than that, it makes sense to decide what you want to do now.
Planning the trip itself
Because you were already planning a visit, here are a few practical points. They are general, and you should always check current official guidance for your own nationality.
- Check your passport validity and the entry requirements published by the Indonesian authorities before booking flights.
- Book flights only after you have the written credit confirmation and the course dates in hand.
- Allow time to settle in before the intensive, because the heat and humidity take a few days to get used to.
- Ask us about accommodation options near Seminyak so you can compare them with what you originally had in mind.
If you booked a Bali retreat rather than a teacher training, tell us. Not every original booking will map neatly onto a teacher training course, and we would rather say so than leave you with a false hope.
Situations we hear about most
You booked a teacher training in Bali and your dates are still ahead
This is the clearest case for a credit. The deposit was probably held by Tripaneer, the course you wanted still exists in Bali, and the main question is which start date suits you now. Send your documents, tell us your preferred window, and we will see what can be matched.
You booked a retreat or a different kind of programme
A holiday retreat and a teacher training are not the same product. We may still be able to look at the deposit, but we would need to understand what you originally booked and whether training is something you actually want. We will not push you toward a course that is wrong for you just because a credit exists.
You have a fixed travel window
Some people have already arranged leave from work or bought flights. If your dates are fixed, say so at the start. We will check whether a suitable intake fits, and if none does we will tell you so you can plan around it rather than wait.
What the written confirmation should say
Before you commit to anything, from us or from anyone else, ask for the key terms in writing. For a credit, these are the points we would set out.
- The credit amount and its currency.
- The course name, the start date and the end date.
- The remaining balance and the date it is due.
- Rules for changing dates, if your plans move.
- How we would treat any refund you receive from a third party later.
If one of these is unclear, ask. A clear written offer protects you as much as it protects us.
How long does a review take
It depends on how complete your documents are and how many enquiries are in the queue. A message that includes the booking confirmation, the proof of payment and your preferred dates is the quickest to deal with. If we need more detail, that is normal and not a refusal. When your preferred intake is close, say so in your first email.
Why we are doing this
You made a plan in good faith, and the failure of a platform in another country is not something you could have prevented. We cannot change the Dutch proceedings. We can look at each person honestly and, where the documents allow it, offer a way to keep your plan alive without paying twice. Where we cannot, we will say so clearly and try to point you in a useful direction.
If you are unsure whether to write at all, our suggestion is simple: send a short email with your documents and ask the question. It costs nothing, it commits you to nothing, and you will get a direct answer from a person who has read your message rather than an automated reply.
Who you would learn from
YogaFX was founded and is led by Mr. Ian Terry, E-RYT 500. He has more than 12,000 teaching hours, has trained over 1,500 graduates from more than 80 countries, and studied directly under Bikram Choudhury at five training events between 2012 and 2019. In June 2026 his appointment as Master Trainer of the Republic of Indonesia Yogasana Sports Federation was confirmed.
Steps to take now
- Save every email, receipt and message connected to the booking.
- Ask your bank or card provider whether a dispute route applies, and what the deadline is.
- Check your travel insurance for supplier failure or insolvency cover.
- Review the ClaimsAgent page if you want to register a claim, which is free.
- Email YogaFX with your documents if you want a credit reviewed.
Please be careful with anyone offering paid recovery services. The official claim route does not charge you.
Booking direct from now on
In future, consider asking the school itself what the deposit terms are. Direct booking can sometimes work out cheaper than a marketplace listing, and a difference of up to approximately 20 percent is a reasonable thing to ask about. It is a question to put to any provider, not a guaranteed discount. If a USD 2,100 course were 20 percent lower, you would pay USD 1,680, but only a written quote counts.

FAQ
I paid a Bali deposit through BookYogaRetreats. What now?
Keep all your documents, ask your bank about dispute options, and check your insurance. You can also email YogaFX, which may be able to credit a verified deposit toward an eligible Bali course. Each request is reviewed individually and confirmed in writing.
Will my Bali host have received my deposit?
Probably not if your trip has not yet happened. Tripaneer’s process, as described by BookRetreats, was to pay hosts shortly after guest arrival. Ask your host directly, because they can tell you what they actually received and explain their own rebooking terms.
Is the YogaFX credit paid in cash?
No. It reduces the price of a YogaFX course in Bali. It is not a refund, and it does not mean Tripaneer has paid us. We confirm the amount and conditions in writing before you decide, and ask you to tell us about any refund received elsewhere.
Can I credit my deposit to the January 2027 MasterClass?
It may be possible, depending on availability and your documents. The MasterClass runs from 24 to 29 January 2027. Email us your details and we will confirm in writing whether the credit and the dates can work together.
Is BookRetreats part of the Tripaneer bankruptcy?
BookRetreats says it is an independent company with no connection to Tripaneer or BookYogaRetreats. If your receipt shows BookRetreats, contact that platform and your host about the booking. If the receipt is unclear, send it to us and we will help you read it.
