First, make sure you are on the right page

YogaFX runs two separate teacher training programmes. This page is only about the Online Course.

The two connect rather than compete. Everything you pay for the Online Course is credited in full against the MasterClass if you later go to Bali, and the online course also counts as the MasterClass pre-course preparation.

The Online Course is a standalone programme with its own curriculum and remote assessment. It is not the same as the pre-course module included with the MasterClass, and enrolling does not automatically reserve a place in a Bali cohort.

Our recommendation

If you can take a week off and fly to Bali, the MasterClass is still the route we recommend first. Teaching a heated room is a physical skill, and being corrected live while you teach is the fastest way to build it.

03From practice to teaching

You can do the sequence. Can you teach it?

Teaching is a different skill from practising. To lead a professional class you need to master five things.

YogaFX trainee leading fellow students through the 26&2 sequence during practical teacher training in Bali

You know what the hot room feels like, and you know what consistency takes. Many 26&2 students reach a point where the postures stop improving, or a new question starts to grow: what would it feel like to stand at the front of the room?

01

Dialogue

What to say, and exactly when to say it.

02

Demonstration

How to show a posture clearly and safely.

03

Corrections

How to adjust students without breaking the room’s focus.

04

Timing

How to pace 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises across 90 minutes.

05

Safety in heat

Anatomy and physiology for bodies working at 40°C.

Skip any of these and teaching becomes stressful and inconsistent. Strong, precise dialogue reduces confusion, supports consistent alignment, builds student confidence and helps reduce avoidable injury risk. This course gives you each piece in a clear, step-by-step order.
04For beginners too

Built for where you are now

You do not need to be an advanced yogi. You need commitment and consistency, not perfection.

Hot yoga student stretching into Half Moon Pose, building a strong 26&2 foundation in a class in Bali

Just started? This is your foundation.

If you feel confused about the sequence, unsure whether you are doing it correctly, or overwhelmed by the dialogue, this course is the fastest way to build a strong foundation. When you learn it properly, the practice becomes safer, more effective and more enjoyable.

  • Understand the 26&2 system, so class stops feeling random and stressful
  • Learn the meaning behind every posture, so you practise with purpose
  • Improve faster with safer technique, without injury or frustration
  • Build confidence in the hot room

This course is built for you if you are…

  • Starting outJust beginning your Bikram Hot Yoga journey
  • Going deeperSix months in and ready to go deeper
  • PlateauAn experienced practitioner stuck on a plateau
  • Future teacherDaydreaming about teaching your own class one day
  • TechniqueWanting to improve alignment, learn modifications and stay focused on one point in the mirror
  • RemoteLiving somewhere remote, where flying to a training isn’t realistic
  • FamilyManaging family or caring commitments that make travel difficult
  • WorkUnable to step away from work for a full week

Studying online lets you work around your own schedule and saves the flights and accommodation an in-person training requires. For context, the traditional nine-week residential route to a Bikram credential has historically cost upwards of USD 10,000 before flights and accommodation.

06Five curriculum pillars

What you will master

The same five pillars every YogaFX teacher is built on.

01

Yoga foundation & philosophy

Teach with purpose, professionalism and strong teacher ethics.

02

Anatomy & physiology

Alignment fundamentals, breath and the nervous system, injury prevention and safe progressions for different bodies in heat.

03

Dialogue & demonstration

Your teaching engine: structure, exact timing, cueing clarity and confident demonstration.

04

Posture clinics

Entry and exit, key actions, common mistakes, safe corrections and progressions, with every posture broken down on video.

05

Assessment & final assignment

You graduate against a real standard.

07Your class, your pace

This isn’t a university course

Most students finish in anywhere from a few weeks to a few months.

You follow the demonstrations and lectures, open your workbook, answer simple tick-box questions, and let the course unfold in your own time.

What you won’t find

No pressure built in

  • No endless Zoom calls
  • No live chat rooms
  • No long essays
  • No rigid deadlines
What you get instead

Freedom with structure

  • Complete control over when and where you study
  • Lifetime access to every module
  • Interactive demonstrations you can teach over
  • A proven, step-by-step method

The online course is self-paced and independent, with no live sessions and no cohort. Community support, live feedback and accountability come with the Bali MasterClass, which you can add later.

12The research

What the research does (and doesn’t) show

Your lectures cover the research so you can speak about it accurately rather than overstate it.

Mental health

Fewer depression symptoms

A randomised trial from Harvard-affiliated Massachusetts General Hospital (Nyer et al.) found that eight weeks of heated yoga produced clinically significant reductions in depression symptoms in many participants.

Cardiovascular load

Heart rate around 80% of max

A 2014 study recorded heart rate sustained at around 80% of maximum for much of a class.

Metabolic health

Better glucose tolerance

A pilot study (Hunter et al.) found that eight weeks of three weekly Bikram classes improved glucose tolerance in older obese adults, though not in young lean participants.

Knowing the limits

Draw the line honestly

Heated yoga is often marketed beyond what the evidence supports. A teacher who can draw that line honestly is more credible in front of a class.

Research findings describe studied groups and do not guarantee individual outcomes. Hot yoga and teacher training are not substitutes for individual healthcare.

“There can be no greater investment than the one that you make in your health, because without it, nothing else matters.”
Mr. Ian Terry, founder of YogaFX

15FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Everything people ask before enrolling in the online course.

Questions first?

WhatsApp the YogaFX team at +62 811 3888 330 and ask for the online course. Or start with the free preview.

Is this a fully certified RYT 200 course?

The course is built to fulfil the credential requirements for Yoga Alliance RYT 200, and an RYT 200 and/or YACEP designation upgrade is available on completion. As with every Yoga Alliance credential, registration is a separate step you complete yourself after graduating, and we walk you through it.

Do I need to be an advanced practitioner or flexible?

No. You need commitment and consistency, not perfection. Flexibility is a result of the practice, not a requirement to start, and every posture has a beginner version. There is no audition, no posture requirement and no minimum years of practice.

Can I do this while working full time?

Yes. The course is entirely self-paced, with no scheduled Zoom calls, no live chat rooms, no essays and no deadlines.

How long do I have access, and how long does it take to finish?

Lifetime access: your modules, workbooks and audio files never expire. Most students finish in anywhere from a few weeks to a few months.

How is the dialogue taught without live classes?

Through three layers: a complete dialogue workbook, downloadable MP3 audio files you can practise with anywhere, and full-series posture demonstrations you can pause, rewind and mute so you can practise teaching over the top.

Do I get community support?

The online course is self-paced and independent, with no live sessions and no cohort. Community support, live feedback and accountability come with the separate Bali MasterClass.

When do I get the bonus content?

The 10 bonus lectures and the reading material unlock after graduation, once you have finished the curriculum, assessment and final assignment.

Do I have to travel to Bali?

No. The online course is completed entirely from home. Travel is only needed if you choose to add the 6-day MasterClass.

What if I want to train in person later?

Your full USD 329 is credited toward Mr. Ian’s in-person MasterClass, and the online course also counts as the MasterClass pre-course preparation. Nothing is lost by starting online.

What does the course cost?

USD 329 as a one-time payment, down from the normal price of USD 399, or four interest-free payments of USD 82.

Is this an official Bikram Choudhury teacher training?

No. This is an independent training, not official Bikram Choudhury Teacher Training. It teaches the Original Hot 26&2 sequence and dialogue under Mr. Ian Terry, E-RYT 500.

Information. Education. Transformation.

You already have the discipline. Now get the training.

Hot yoga is physically demanding. If you have a medical condition, are pregnant or are new to exercise in the heat, check with a healthcare professional before you start.
