Our Seminyak Teacher Is a World Yogasana Champion

If you have taken a class at our Seminyak studio recently, there is a good chance your teacher was a world champion. Ms. Ivara Candra Kartika, who teaches regular classes here at YogaFX Bali, returned home this month from Ahmedabad, India, with a Gold and a Bronze medal from the inaugural World Yogasana Sport Championship, the first sanctioned global championship in the sport’s history.

She was not alone. Fellow YogaFX graduate Mr. Arkan Fauzan Riyanto also competed for Indonesia at the same championship, held from 4 to 8 June 2026, returning with five medals of his own. Together, the pair helped Indonesia bring home seven medals from the event’s first edition.

Your Seminyak Teacher, on the World Stage

Ms. Ivara Candra Kartika is not a distant name on a results sheet. She is on our weekly class schedule, teaching the same 26&2 sequence to our regular students and first-time visitors alike. On her verified Instagram account, she described herself simply as “World Yogasana Champion representing Indonesia, in Ahmedabad, India,” adding that she was “Grateful to bring home a Gold and Bronze Medal for Indonesia.”

The Indian Council for Cultural Relations Jakarta (ICCR Jakarta), the official Indian government body for cultural relations with Indonesia, confirmed the team result publicly, and the win was independently reshared by Indonesian wellness community accounts including @activeenergyid congratulating “para atlet kami atas prestasi luar biasa” at the World Yogasana championship.

Ahmedabad was the latest stop in a season that has taken Ms. Ivara Candra Kartika across three continents: a MasterClass Gold at FORNAS VIII in Indonesia in July 2025, a Silver medal at the Asian Yogasana Championships in the UAE in August 2025, and now Gold and Bronze at the first World Championship in June 2026.

A Second Medal for the YogaFX Family

Mr. Arkan Fauzan Riyanto, a 2022 graduate of our teacher training programme, brought home two Silver and three Bronze medals from the same Ahmedabad championship, a result confirmed independently by the Tangerang City Government and local Banten press following his homecoming. Mr. Riyanto had already secured a three-peat national title at FORNAS across 2022, 2023, and 2025 before adding his first world-level medals in Ahmedabad.

Both athletes trained under the personal guidance of Mr. Ian Terry, our studio’s founder, who serves as Master Trainer of the Republic of Indonesia Yogasana Sports Federation and as National Coach to the Indonesian Yogasana team.

What This Means If You Practice With Us

For students who walk into our Seminyak or Canggu studio for a class, this is not a story about elite athletes in a separate world. It is a reminder of the calibre of instruction available on our regular timetable. The same alignment cues, the same attention to a beginner’s first Eagle Pose, and the same patience with a visitor’s first hot room experience are taught by instructors who have also stood on a world championship podium.

If you would like to take a class with Ms. Ivara Candra Kartika or any of our instructors during your time in Bali, our current schedule and a free one-day guest pass are available through the studio’s contact page, or message us directly on WhatsApp to find a class time that suits your stay.
